Prioritization Frameworks That Actually Work
Every product manager faces the same challenge: too many ideas, not enough time. That’s where prioritization frameworks come in. The RICE framework (Reach, Impact, Confidence, Effort) helps PMs compare features objectively based on potential value. The MoSCoW method (Must, Should, Could, Won’t) is perfect for defining roadmap priorities with stakeholders. Simpler tools like the value vs. effort matrix can quickly highlight high-impact, low-effort wins for short-term sprints. Frameworks bring structure to chaos, but they’re not a substitute for judgment—context still matters. The best PMs use frameworks as conversation tools to align teams, not as rigid scoring systems. Product management success depends on strategic prioritization backed by clear reasoning.
